You can make money from playing games

Two years ago i entered in a tournament for a game called 'Call of Duty : Black ops 2' with 3 of my friends (since you needed a team of 4 to enter) the tournament spanned over a year from the start of 2013 to the end. My friends and i signed up on their website and looked forward to the first event which was 1 week after we signed up, it was held in Mirdif City Center. Before the event my friends and i practiced against other teams playing 'scrims' which are basically a best of 5 series where you play 4v4 as a team on different maps and game modes. After a week of practicing as a team we went to the tournament and saw a bunch of people ready to play, there were more teams than we expected. In the end we won all our series (best of 3) against the other teams apart from one team which put us in second overall, their team name was GYTO. After the event we added them so we could play against them online to practice and they agreed, since they were the only team to beat us we though it would be best if we play against them to learn their play style. The first series against them we won shockingly proving that we just made mistakes at the tournament possibly because we were nervous and we had a lot of adrenaline since everyone was watching and there was money on the line 100,000 AED as well as prizes such as a gaming sponsor ship which would provide us with gaming gear as well as a monthly salary. 

Through out the year there were tournaments every 2-3 weeks and my team and team GYTO were going back and forth against each other battling it out for first, until the qualifies for the finals they had more point than us but the top 5 teams get to go to the finals in Abu Dhabi so it was alright. We knew we could prove that we were the best team in the middle east in the finals

In the end we ended up winning the finals against GYTO in a best of 5 series. We ended up winning 3-1 in map count. After we won we were very hyped with all the adrenaline. We ended up winning the prize money and the sponsorship. Although after that year i stopped playing Call of Duty : Black ops 2 because i got sick of it since i was practicing almost everyday so it got boring, and i started playing a new game called League Of Legends  i aim to be a pro player in it also, although it is more difficult since the pro community is full of talent and massive. Its highly unlikely but that wont stop me, I am already a high rank in the first year of playing it, I reached diamond tier which only the top 2 % of the world can do out of the 27 million active daily players and 67 million active monthly players.

This is quite a large post but i just want to prove to the parent of kids who aim to be in the competitive scene that people can make a living out of gaming.
